Song of the Day! (Big Gigantic & Griz: Power)

Here's the latest from Big Gigantic & Griz! What better artist to listen to right now... I mean after all Big Gigantic is on the ballot for Spring Fling this year, so you best get familiar! This song is sure to get played if the duo comes and blesses PSU with a set! This track is both hard hitting and smooth at the same time, so you get the best of both worlds. Nothing too hard here, if you listen long enough you will even notice a saxophone comes into play around the 2:15 mark. If you like what you hear, then be sure to peep their Soundcloud provided below the download link which is also listed. Enjoy ya'll!

Tribute Song- Up Up and Away: Dr. Gonzo Remix

I could get technical with this review, but today we have a much more important issue to reflect upon. These lyrics are words to live by. Don't let other people bring you down with their negative thoughts, live your life, and be happy.

Life is too short to be anything but happy... This song goes out to my friend Deanna Rivers, a girl who tragically lost her life in a car accident last night. This was our jam back in the day. So let's all appreciate what we have while we still can. RIP and enjoy. I know you're listening.

Imagine Dragons: Night Visions (Album Review)

Alright, so first let me start off by saying this is not your typical Electronic Overdose post... When I first heard the band (Yes, band) Imagine Dragons it was a song called "Radioactive" which had some electronic vibes strung throughout it. When I found out that the band recently released a CD I figured mine as well check 'em out! What I quickly realized was that Imagine dragons are not a band heavily influenced by electronic music as I previously thought. Instead of the soothing synth noises found in Radioactive I was greeted with the sounds of something like an alternative rock band. Sooooo....

STOP READING THIS IF YOU HAVE NO DESIRE TO HEAR ABOUT AN ALTERNATIVE ALBUM!!!!

This band is no doubt full of talent... So many songs on this CD are catchy and I found myself playing them over and over and over and... you get it. I've listed the tracks below but here are my top five: Radioactive, The River, Selene, Tiptoe, and It's Time. I found this band to be a refreshing addition to my itunes library and I hope you all feel the same. While this band won't have you pumping your fist it wouldn't surprise me if you're belting out your lungs to these tracks in your car... (Not that i've done that or anything...) In closing, no Imagine Dragons were definitely not what I expected from an electronic standpoint. But am I glad I gave them a listen? Hell yea.

Rating: 4.5/5

Artist of the Week (Madeon)

This is Madeon, the 18 year old EDM prodigy. Born in France, this producer got an early start at the young age of 11. He quickly gained recognition in the EDM world for his remix of a track by Pendulum (The Island). Madeon has made a rise to the top before even releasing an album. In 2012 he played at some of the biggest music festivals including Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Lollapalooza, and Electric Daisy Carnival. For such a small person Madeon creates some of the most powerful songs in all of electronic music. Personally I've found myself comparing him to an upbeat version of NERO. Some of his most recent work includes a song called "The City" (seen below) and "Stay Awake" (the latest song of the day). Another recent accomplishment for the young producer was making the DJ Mag Top 100 Dj's list, he came in at #54 in all the world. Unfortunately for us Madeon will not be here until his NYC show on the 28th of December because he is currently on tour in Europe. But if you want to hear more of his stuff I've posted his soundcloud below.

Song of the Day!

Ellie Goulding: Stay Awake (Produced by Madeon)

The latest from Ellie Goulding and it does not disappoint. This track could potentially be one of the best songs released this year for EDM. Obviously Ellie's vocals are spot on (would we expect anything different?), but Madeon's production is what takes this song to another level. People may argue that electronic music is emotionless, but rather a genre of music that is strictly for partying. This song totally disproves anyone who makes that statement. Here are some lyrics to the song:

We don't have to wait till the morning,
The sun will never go down.
And we will be this way forever,
We've got to take it now.
